Sometime between 3 and 4 pm on Monday the 27th of June Hamish received a phone call to tell him that we would no longer be dining at the new Vue De Monde, we would have to go to the old venue at Normanby Chambers. 
To be honest I wasn't phased, Hamish was destroyed. 
Destroyed so much that there were tears in his eyes. 
I told him there wasn't much difference, it's STILL Vue De Monde.
He wasn't convinced (I didn't understand why) but called them back anyway and said we were happy to dine at Normanby Chambers.
Because the amazing people at Vue De Monde knew what Hamish was up to they gave us The Chef's Table. 
The Chef's Table in the most prized and valued table in Vue De Monde. Usually it is reserved for a minimum 4 people, they gave it to Hamish for 2 - HE TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE HE'D SAID IT WAS FOR MY BIRTHDAY.
I believed him.
Sigh


We arrived at Vue and Shannon Bennett was at the door.
HE SHOOK MY HAND PEOPLE!!!!!
I was in awe and wanted to ask him where his party hat was, but I was too shy.
We were shown to our private table and settled in with glasses of Champagne.




At one stage Hamish told me he had to go to the toot. 
He took AGES. 
I think that was when I tweeted that SHANNON BENNETT SHOOK MY HAND. 
When he came back he was acting normal as pie - I didn't have any suspicions at all.


The 3rd course in the Menu Gormand was:
CONSOMMÉ DE CHAMPIGNON
Pine mushrooms, walnuts, bird's cress, cona infusion
Yes, yes, yes a mushroom consomme.
I was told there were 3 parts.
The third "part" was brought to our table by the head chef.
It was cloche filled with coconut husk smoke.
The cloche was placed on the table and I was told "the rest is up to you".....
I lifted the cloche up
A cloud of fragrant coconut husk smoke billowed out
I saw a blue box
But didn't click
The smoke cleared a little
It was a Tiffany's box
Hamish walked around the table
AT THIS STAGE I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING SOMEWHERE?!
I STILL HAD NO IDEA
He knelt down in front of me on one knee
He told me he loved me and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me
I STILL WASN'T COMPLETELY CLICKING I STILL COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT WAS HAPPENING
I was crying
Then he said
Will you marry me?
I bawled yes and he asked for my hand
Then slipped the ring on my finger
It fit
Perfectly


On cue our sommelier poured us glasses of Ruinart Champagne


I was in shock
I'm still in shock, perhaps settled shock.
I can't believe that Hamish is my fiancé
My best friend in the whole universe is my fiancé
I can't stop smiling..........

I couldn't fit in 10 courses and a proposal in one post!!!!
For now I have a promise ring of sorts from Tiffany's which Hamish had engraved. He hunted down a specific engraver in Melbourne to make sure it was done. Apparently he had the ring in his work bag for over a month. I had NO idea.
We are going to pick the diamond together, I haven't got a clue about them!! 
HELP!!!
