The Truth About Captchas


Hi peeps... I feel it's time to address an issue, the issue of CAPTCHAS!!!! They drive me nuts!!! See that happy blogger tapping away at her keyboard writing a comment... she is HAPPY. She has another 382910382091 blogs to comment on (because she hasn't commented on blogs for an hour)... so she's multitasking, comment, comment, comment, submit, submit, submit... then....

Instead of the comment just going to approval or posting.... homegirl has to now write out a CAPTCHA!!!! SOMETIMES SHE CAN'T EVEN READ THEM!!!! SOMETIMES HER COMMENT DISAPPEARS AND SHE HAS TO START ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!



The truth is though, if you're approving your blogs then you can weed out the SPAM BURGERS and you don't need a pesky CAPTCHA!!! Usually Blogger-homie has the smarts anyway and weeds out the SPAM BURGERS for you!!!

So don't be scared!!!! Get rid of your CAPTCHAS and make commenting eeeeaaassssyyyyy!!! Just go to your security settings and you'll be toot sweet.

    I agree about captchas - especially when commenting on the go (iphone or ipad) they are too hard to manage and many comments disappear - I have learnt to Select All + Copy before I hit submit now.

  23. Ugh I hate these things too!

    I'm quite the fan of Disqus (using it myself naturally)...Catches spam really well - though I do get the odd one break through. Not sure how that works cos they all seem like hacked accounts - you know those comments like "this article was really interesting" - WTF?

    Half the time I can't read those damn captchas either. So annoying!

  24. OMG I was JUST whinging about this on Twitter tonight but since you posted this TWO days ago- you are like days ahead of me in terms of being peeved by captchas! I like how some blogs have an extra button that say "click me if you are human" - must find out how to get one. I'm pretty sure my wordpress blog doesn't require captcha... yeahhhh
