God. Help. Me.
Last night I was reading What to Expect When You're Expecting and I made the foolish mistake of asking Hamish what his thoughts were on labour and how exactly he was going to help the baby and I through the birthing process....
He said he would 'get lots of towels' I asked why (What to Expect doesn't really have a 'Lots Of Towels' section) he said it's because that's what the do in the movies
...hmmmmm....
I then asked him what movies he was referring to for labour education, he said Three Men and a Baby and Junior.
Then he said something about Tom Sellek being a real man...
I don't know, I was completely lost by that stage.
Just no. No, no, no....
If I've got to rely on Three Men and a Baby, Tom Selleck and Junior as Hamish's birthing guide then I'm pretty much in for a labour full of champagne comedy... not really...
Hamish, I mean Tom Selleck practicing with an unknown baby.
What are your tips for HAMISH?

Dont patronise! If you want to scream, let you f&*#5ing well scream your little lungs out! If you need to yell at someone and be angry, tell him to just cop it with a smile, not take it to heart and keep his mouth shut haha.
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhahahahaaa I will show him this ahahahahaaa
DeleteI think he will be good, I honestly do, he has never let me down so far!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh it will be an interesting day!

Hamish! Just do whatever Mez needs. Be supportive, but not annoying. Just be there. It's a wonderful experience to share.
ReplyDeleteHonestly it's all up to you Mez. My husband was a champion. He was giving me lollies, water and support the whole way.
LOLLIES!!!! Yaaaaaaaaaayayayaaa
DeleteHe actually said later in the conversation he would make sure i was kept hydrated which is smart of him... I also suggested massage and he said ok, until his hands hurt haahahahaa

Looks like Hamish knows how to hold bebe when it's born! You need to find a book that has a "lots of towels" section :P lol
ReplyDeletebahaahaahaaa I know haahahahahaa I said to him that when we go on the tour of the ward and they ask if anyone has questions he will be asking where the towels are hahaahahaaa
Deletexox
I would actaully like to know why the movies always call for towels...and warm water. Hamish, can you please find out for me?
ReplyDeleteBaaaaaaaaaaaahahahhaa he said something about warm water last night and I asked where he got it from and he said 'the movies' hahaahahahahahahaaaa
DeleteI think I've heard it on MASH too hahaahahaha

I don't have any tips but I had to laugh at this....at least he could reference his thoughts, maybe he was using the movies to study? haha
ReplyDeleteMy sister and her husband had their first bubba in March, and both absolutely swear by the Calmbirth course they did - sis said it was the single best preparation she could have had for labour (she breezed through hers), and BIL said it was fantastic in letting him know how he could help, and what to do, and most importantly what NOT to do LOL
ReplyDeleteDo they run Calmbirth courses in your area? Alternatively, my sis has gifted her book to me for when its my turn - I'd be happy to lend it to you if you want a read of it? Just shoot me an email - cgeenty@y7mail.com
I don't have any advice as I am babyless but I love this so much! Men can be absolutely clueless sometimes hahaha
ReplyDeleteoh god, how hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard reading this! knowing both of you the way I do, Mish is going to be great, and you are going to be amazing!!!! although to help "coach" him, maybe print out a few one page info sheets and leave them on the coffee table ;) xxx
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Man I love that movie :) Tell Hamish to just do whatever you want. Whatever, whenever. That's what I'd want, right? A personal slave during those likely hellish but totally amazing but let's be honest downright painful hours of labour?
