I have wanted a juicer for a LONG time and finally bit the bullet the other weekend by buying The Philips Quick Clean Juicer.
I've just used it for the very first time and I'm SO, so happy with it.
The most frequent question people have asked is: Is it hard to clean? The answer, I'm relieved to report is not at all. I've chucked the non bulky bits in the dishwasher. I had to hand wash one of the top bits, that's it. The machine claims to clean in 1 minute and if you use a dishwasher then it can totally be done in a minute. If you hand wash you're probably looking at 3 minutes.
Too Easy
So, I've decided to give myself a 7 day juice challenge. I'd like to increase my daily fruit and vegetable quota so I figure a juice will do this. I'm making either breakfast or lunch a juice (let's face it a juice is a whole meal). I'll let you guys know how I'm going probably via the Facebook page.
If you'd like to buy the juicer you can find it here or in major department stores.
I know I asked on the FB page but what juice recipes do you have, I'm really interested in green juices that don't taste horrid!!!!

We have a juicer at home but its such a bitch to clean!! My mum will get it out for like a week every few months and we'll have crazy juices and then forget about it for another few months lol
ReplyDeleteI don't have any advice for green juices though, sorry! lol
That's what i didn't want a juicer that would be a nightmare to clean, thankfully this is a breeze to clean!!!
DeleteI'm loving it, just made a juice and it was SO good!!!

Nice!! I've been having green juices every day in this goddamn heat and here's my fall-back recipe - it's not overly sweet so you might want to put more fruit in if you like:
ReplyDeleteHandful of baby spinach, a couple of leaves of cos lettuce, 1/2 cucumber, 1 lemon (peeled), 1 apple, 1 carrot and a piece of ginger. I blend it with some water and ice. Really refreshing!
You can always get this ebook from Girl on Raw who has a ton of smoothie and juice recipes as well. :)
That sounds PERFECT I will give it a whirl maybe throw some watermelon in...
DeleteI have found I'm using fruit or vegetables I've already got in the fridge that have been half used or cut up already... great way to get rid of bits and bobs!!!

If I was to need a juicer, that would be the one. Read about the how easy it was to clean and thought it was a miracle!
ReplyDeleteI can't go past fresh cloudy apple juice :)
GET IT
Deleteomg you will LOVE it

I wish I could jump on the juicing bandwagon. My dietican says no - for my particular health concerns it's no good. Not fair! Che and Fidel (the blog) has some good juice recipes.
ReplyDeleteOh noooooo :( :( :(
DeleteI'm loving it, so, so happy I got a juicer finally.

Green juices are so good, similar to above my favourite is kale, carrot, cucumber, ginger, celery and apple. Lemon is important as it helps to cut the bitterness of the vegetables.
ReplyDeleteI've also read that you should use a balance of 80% vegetables and 20% fruit in your juices, as too much juiced fruit (rather than blended) is pretty much just fructose and will cause a sugar spike.
I've wondered about the balance!! Thank you! I read that Lemon is a good cutting agent for the bitterness, bought a shit load of them at the market for this reason. I did a 100% fruit one today and oh my LAWD is was good but it was for Sunday big breakfast with poached eggs and bacon so I thought why not have fun and go all out with the juice.
DeleteI'm going to go and get a bag of kale from the green grocers tomorrow, yayayaya!

Oooo, once you buy kale - would you mind doing a post on how to cook it? People keep talking about kale chips and what not. I saw it at the market and was like NO WAY - TOOOOO scary for me, but I'd love to give it a go.
DeleteI'm so lusting after a good veggie juicer. Inhaled one yesterday - so good!
